Aamchi Mumbai in Namma Chennai

Hi Friends,

People who have some connection with Mumbai could possibly have visited the “Haji Ali” Juice centre in Worli. I personally was introduced to this shop in 2007 by my colleague. The shop has been in existence from 1937 and draws celebrities as well. It is well open till midnight and the food/ juices are a treat.

The same Haji Ali Juice Centre has opened their outlet in Chennai. This is their second outlet outside Mumbai (they have in Dubai as well). The outlet is 25 days old. It is located in “Murugesa Naicker Office Complex” in Greams Road. It is a bustling office area and hence there should be crowd during working days. It is a pure veg eat-out. The outlet is clean and cozy. The interiors are done in Black & White. The staff are courteous and helpful. The one thing that sets apart the Mumbai and the Chennai shop is the ambience.

The menu is simple and clean – Sandwiches, Pizzas, Rolls, Juices, Milkshakes, Faloodas and Fruit Creams. The price is affordable and a good meal for 2 would cost around Rs.300/- My recommendations from the menu would be Haji Ali Special Pizza, Pomegrante Juice and Custard Apple Cream (Seasonal based).

I would personally see more of these famous restaurants from the other parts of the country in Chennai. The first thing would be the traditional MTR of Bangalore in Chennai and Paradise Biryani of Hyderabad. What would you want to see in Chennai??

  1. I would want some Chennai restaurants to open shop in Bangalore!! So, some competition to the Fruit Shop in Greams road. I thought this one was also very good! Only they don’t serve food items. We will go there next time da.

      DI,
Sure. Fruit Shop is more of a Chennai brand. In Greams Road, you can eat from Galloping Gooseberry (right above Fruit shop) and order from Fruit shop. You can also try the Frankies sold there.

  2. You have been tagged on the topic ‘Fast Furious and Danceable songs’ – visit my site for details.

    Hi,

My sister had been to Haji Ali and waxed eloquent about the chat items there. I am so surprised that its a 100% vegetarian restaurant, the name was misleading me I guess..Nice post…
Well…an all sandwich shop serving smple clean sandwiches like the ones in Bombay/Pune would be great!!!
